Description

The group consists of 130 companies with more than 200 customer service centers in 50 countries. In 2010, it produced about 460 million airline meals for more than 300 airlines worldwide. LSG Sky Chefs' parent company, LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, is headquartered in Neu-Isenburg, Germany.

LSG Sky Chefs acquired its comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the in-flight service management business through almost 70 years of experience. The company was formed after the takeover of Sky Chefs, American Airlines' former catering subsidiary, by Lufthansa’s catering division Lufthansa Service GmbH. Over the past two decades in particular, LSG Sky Chefs has considerably expanded its worldwide presence.

Through its catering expertise, LSG Sky Chefs has developed specialized skills in the planning, implementation and management of all processes related to in-flight services. That includes the design, development, procurement and logistics related to in-flight services equipment. Today, the company offers an extensive range of in-flight products and services with unsurpassed quality and reliability.

As a logical extension of its capacities, LSG Sky Chefs has also begun a successful incursion into adjacent markets, such as train, school and healthcare catering as well as retail.

LSG Sky Chefs is the brand name of all the groups in the LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG. LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG is headquartered in Neu-Isenburg (near Frankfurt), Germany. In 2010, the companies belonging to LSG Sky Chefs Group achieved consolidated revenues of € 2.2 billion.

Despite the sharp fall in demand, following the global financial crisis, LSG Sky Chefs has been able to maintain its premier market position with a global share of about 30 percent. In America and Europe, the company estimates its market share at between 35 and 40 percent. In Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the majority of local airlines still have their own catering facilities at their hubs. LSG Sky Chefs is, however, endeavoring to build its presence via partnerships and management contracts in these growth markets. Under these agreements, the company contributes its expert catering knowledge and access to the extensive resources available through its global network, while local partners provide specific market intelligence and on-site contacts.
