Petra Foods is built upon two complementary business divisions:

Cocoa Ingredients - One of the world’s major manufacturers and suppliers of premium cocoa ingredients, namely Cocoa Liquor, Cocoa Butter and Cocoa Powder that form the basis for the chocolate products consumed by millions each day; and
Branded Consumer - One of the leading players in Southeast Asia that markets and distributes its own brands of chocolate and sugar confectionery products to consumers, and enjoys a market leadership position in Indonesia.
Each division is nurtured by its own business cycle and each plays a different and distinct role in our overall business model. This has provided stability and balance to our overall business and has been the foundation for growth over the years.

Petra Foods has been listed on the Mainboard of the SGX-ST since November 2004.

From our origins in 1984, and a base in 2001 of five factories and offices in four countries, we have achieved a truly global presence. Today, we have processing facilities, offices and businesses in 16 locations spread across 11 countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Our global family has grown to a total of more than 6,000 employees, representing 22 different nationalities.

Targeting South East Asia – a region where the historical growth rate for chocolate sales has far outpaced that of global growth, our Branded Consumer Division manufactures, markets and distributes our own brands of chocolate confectionery products. Driven by a strong management team of talented and seasoned professionals, our strong innovative culture allows us to continually create powerful ‘Winning Ideas’ which in turn gives us a significant competitive edge in building our brands.

Supported by two chocolate manufacturing facilities in Indonesia and the Philippines, we have a broad brand portfolio that extends across multiple product categories and different price points, appealing to different consumer groups in our key markets of Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia. Our brands command over 50% market share in Indonesia.

From a single marketplace in Indonesia over 50 years ago, we are continually growing our presence and now enjoy superior distribution capabilities across the region. Leveraging our multi-layered distribution network comprising our direct distribution team, a network of third party distributors and sub-distributors, we have the proven ability to build brands, making us the perfect partner for distributing Agency (or 3rd Party) products.

We play a key role in promoting and distributing products for 3rd parties in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. Representing a diverse mix of Agency brands, including international food and beverage companies, we distribute products from different product categories in multiple sectors. In all, our distribution expertise extends to nine broad categories extending even beyond the food and beverage category.

Petra Foods, through Delfi Cocoa, is one of the largest cocoa ingredients suppliers in the world, providing highly customised premium cocoa ingredients to international food and beverage companies around the world. Our customers are assured of tailor-made products with uncompromising quality that exceed the rigorous industry standards and meet their unique requirements in taste, texture and appearance.

Our global network of eight processing facilities and three sales offices across four continents, close to all the major consuming markets, gives us the reach and scale, enabling us to serve our customers better.


Cocoa Liquor

The most important ingredient used in the manufacture of chocolate products, cocoa liquor is responsible for the unique taste of a particular type of chocolate. The production of cocoa liquor is as much an art as it is a science, depending on the type and proportion of cocoa beans used, as well as the timing and heat intensity when roasting the cocoa beans.

Cocoa Butter

Extracted from cocoa liquor, cocoa butter is the edible fat naturally found in cocoa beans and is exclusively used in the making of chocolate. Cocoa butter is a key ingredient in chocolate making because of its unique melting point at body temperature. This is a unique property that renders chocolate a solid at room temperature but readily melts once it is in your mouth. This is what gives chocolates their distinctive smooth taste and mouth-feel.

Cocoa Powder

It is the most versatile cocoa ingredient as it is used in a wide variety of applications in the food and beverage industry. Cocoa Powder is used in the making of pastry and baking products, chocolate and sugar confectionery products, desserts, pralines and biscuits, candy fillings, cereals, ice-creamery and dairy products, as well as a general flavouring and colouring ingredient. We produce a full range of low and high fat cocoa powders with different colour and flavour profiles

Cocoa Beans

Cocoa is strictly a tropical plant grown in limited geographical zones that are within 10 degrees north and 10 degrees south of the Equator where the temperature and rainfall conditions are most suited for the cultivation of cocoa trees. The appropriate conditions to cultivate cocoa trees are regions that are relatively hot and humid, with rainfall throughout the year and temperatures in the range of between 20 to 32 degree Celsius.

The largest cocoa producing countries include Cote d'lvoire, Ghana and Indonesia.
